Mayor Heggry continues explain how the creature leaves sinkholes and a foul smelling slime. The attacks just started today in the early dawn hours, the last just three hours ago, with only three attacks known so far. He goes on to explain how Carrion Hill sits upon the remains of many cities and that the hill. is riddled with tunnels and chambers. With the mayor's leave, the Fellowship begins their investigation. The first attack was at the Slipper Market, located in the Tangles, a landscape of twisting alleyways and tight streets; most of the buildings are made of wood and middenstone. The group is taken to a roped off area protected by city guards where a large tent that has been set up. There is supposedly a witness named Tarrig (middle-aged man). Three bodies at the scene, one guard that went down with the commander and two residents from the area. The first body is of a man who was flattened by a single, crushing blow (pancaked), second man (beggar) whose back has been broken in two (shattered), and the third body is one of the Crows who is twisted around at the waist, arms completely shattered. Tarrig's statement: got to market early, stalls set up about two hours before dawn, something came crashing out of Marshan's house, screams and the house shook, went looking for the Crows, got back and everything was quiet, the Crows went into the house and the shaken started again, Crows came running out and were lifted up by something unseen, like some great invisible hand was trying to push it into the ground or crushed it with its fist.
A horrible smelling, black slime (wet diseased fur, air before a rainstorm, open grave) has been left behind in house. There is a spiral-shaped blood pattern on the side of building as if something large used a broken body as a paintbrush (10 ft. high). The blood pattern has something to do with the Dark Tapestry, likely the Great Old Ones, and is associated with magic portals. Kyrrn definitely thinks it's related to Yog-Sothoth. It appears that someone was possibly trying to bring something through.
Body parts sticking in the slime within the house appear completely bloodless with no blood to be seen even around the bodies. Some of the larger pieces have 6 in. circular bruise marks with a wound in the middle of the circle. There are stairs going down to more stairs below that appear older than the house stairs. The walls are slimier than the floor. The architecture changes drastically during descent, older style. Leads to a great columned chamber with sarcophagi within it. A 10 ft. swath of black sludge that leads to an opening on the side, not as smelly. An old body lays on the floor with flasks and a holy symbol of Aroden (old god of humans, the last of the first).
