Session 130 - "The Sunless Grove"
General Summary
6.00p
In a large area with luminescent fungus the Fellowship finds the remains of a flat, primitive altar surround by bones and three barren trees which appear petrified, seemingly undead. A trail of sludge leading from the altar, pooling to the north. A set of slime and footprints winds from the stairs to the pool of the sludge. The southern area appears completely collapsed. The magical senses, the altar and trees are showing a heavy aura of conjuration, as well as evil (entire north half of the area). A body, wearing a dark cloak, is slumped against the altar, and another is visible to the north as well. The place is pinging Kyrrn's memory. She remembers a vison with Dr. Crove preparing a sacrifice and how it felt like it was her. The body on altar is likely an older man. It appears bloodless and twisted like the bodies above they found above ground. It bears the same bites and cuts, its cloak is ripped away and it looks like something was gnawing on its arm. A ghoul appears and attacks, but it is quickly put down. Kyrrn continues using her psychic senses to read the body. His name is Sulm Marshan, human, evil, appearing to be a merchant. The body is grasping a thin metal wand (cool to touch, faint necromacy, inscribed with runes), is wearing a small bracers on both arms (made out of greenish scales, tied on with stringy gut and small bones, fishy smell, inscribed in Common "Recondite Order"), and seems to have enlarged eyes (Skum taint?) The second body is also bloodless, displaying massive wounds. It is an older man with a hunchback and bearded (human, male, evil) He is Glem Baskerwhel and is wearing a highly polished slick ring (outside carved with waves of water, inside inscribed "Inota ca un peste", Ring of Swiming). All three tunnels are barred with iron bars, except for the one to the north which is missing them. Tunnel to south is partially covered. A book is visible on the altar, but Kyrrn is unable to lift it with her mind. Suddenly the group is attacked by semi-canine humanoid with rancid green flesh and hoof-like feet, yet its eyes sparkle with the gleam of intelligence. Its claws dig into the Soul, paralyzing him.
