Session 134 - "The Sudden Siege of Crove Asylum - Part 3"
General Summary
Moonday, 17 Gozran 4711 AR
The chaotic beast viciously attacks Kelath and the Unworthy Soul is struck down. Neferu summons a hound archon and soon the monstrosity is dispatched. Taking a moment to regroup, Drago and Kyrrn investigate the cavernous area beyond filled with fungus of a purplish color as well as more slime. Remnants of bone and refuse lead to the conclusion that this area serves as the asylum’s sewer. Returning to the lunatic’s dining hall, the Fellowship proceeds through the iron door in the north, which leads to another iron door as well as stairs going down a short way. A door just inside the hallway opens to stairs leading up. Opening the iron doors reveals a small, but well put together study with a desk and chairs. Another door is set into the corner of the room. As Drago goes to open this door, Kelath and Neferu are suddenly set upon by a tentacled, multi-eyed beast with a glowing emblem above its eyes: an eidolon. Neferu falls under its assault, and Kelath nearly so. With great effort, he and Drago finally end the eidolon’s existence, which vanishes as it expires. A blank section of wall in the hallway reveals how the creature was able to go unnoticed. The Fellowship enters Drago’s Chateau Ryre bearing Neferu’s body. While they attempt to recuperate, hearts heavy with the loss of their friend, they are besieged by elementals of magma and fire. A tall, cadaverous man is found commanding the creatures. A sudden vivid memory comes to Kyrrn of the man exploring her insides with his long, thin, cold fingers confirming what is immediately known: the man is none other than asylum warden and cultist member of the Keepers of the Oldest, Dr. and Keeper Waldur Crove. With renewed rage and purpose, the remaining Fellowship falls upon the demented doctor. While being rained upon by blow after blow, Crove suddenly turns invisible. Not willing to let the cultist escape so easily, the friends begin searching with focused determination. Kyrrn is able to detect the Keeper’s location and directs the Fellowship’s efforts to it. Within moments the menace is finally dealt with, but this only serves to amplify the party’s loss. Solemnly, Neferu’s body is prepared with gentle repose and a prayer is offered to his beloved Pharasma. Ready to be done with this nightmare, the Fellowship sets its collective jaws and falls to ending the menace and mystery of the Crove Asylum once and for all…
