Ecrin

Founded: ~457 REM Population: 6,200 Settlement Type: Traditionalist Militia: Thorns   As the planet began to unfreeze, a primary concern was resettlement and reducing the overpopulation of Three Streams. In a unanimous decision by the council, the three most prominent families were gifted land on the southern waterways, and citizens paid to resettle in these particular locations. The council wished to preserve the traditional culture of the Gnomes in these cities as Three Streams had been saturated with countless foreign cultures, all blending together during the 500 years underground. Citizens were to construct traditional homes, celebrate gnomish holidays, and reignite the vigor for creating for the pure enjoyment of creation.   This resettlement of the prominent families served an ulterior motive as well. Confinement and resource scarcity had bred division at the heart of society. The three largest factions were thus divided by hundreds of miles and unknowingly still pitted against one another in a contest of invention and cultural preservation. This rival runs strong in the cultures of the cities, sometimes resulting in violence.   As time progressed, each city blossomed, producing abundant crops, yields, and experimental arcane-infused devices that caught the wonder of the world’s population. However, none were so famous as the barrel enchantments, which allow programable flow based on the customer. These barrels can now be found globally.   Founded by the Ecrin family, the city has prided itself on strict adherence to Gnomish culture, the original and only mandate given to the first settlers. Because of this, all strangers are met with suspicion and encouraged to depart as quickly as possible to limit external influence. It is common for generations to always stay within the city limits. Children are raised as traditionalists and perpetuating the city’s mandate.
