Emberton

Founded: 1,240 GT Population: 230,000 Purpose: Capital/Freedom Current Ruler: Nao (Wise Council) The capital of the freeborn the fertile lands exuding from the Three Sisters have allowed the nation to thrive in an otherwise austere environment. Frequently referred to as the free city, those without ill intent are welcome to establish themselves within the vast lands and thrive under the warmth of the volcanoes.   The city is broken down into expanding settlements, each filling another section of the enclave and allowing immense population expansion. Because of this, Emberton is easily the largest city on the planet, although it appears more of a collective than a centralized location. As foreigners gathered, they instinctually created unique pockets of cultures, no two corners of Emberton being the same. From an outside perspective, the city is one of absolute chaos as the noise of celebrations, religious services, conflict, and haggling rings out and is echoed by the surrounding mountains.   City Dynamics Maintaining Freedom. A culture created out of the bonds of slavery, Emberton makes all efforts to ensure no person or organization asserts dominance over the population. While wealth is encouraged and even admired, using wealth to gain immense power will earn the wielder a ticket off the continent or past the black gates.   Pride in a Deal. Though the coin is always a welcome payment method, the merchants of the city deal in all forms of currency. An item might be purchased with a favor, a potion traded for a kiss. In the end, the worth of the item is whatever the owner decides it to be, creating a unique haggling culture.   Significant Locations Three Sisters. Forming the eyes and nostrils of the great beast surrounding the capital, the Three Sisters are looked at in loving respect, their warmth used to keep civilization alive during the Great Freeze. Widely accepted as a religious site, the arbiters of Tendraisseth can be found tending to worshipers or exploring the many uncharted cave systems beneath.   Pit of Awakening. Said to be the footprint of the great dragon itself, the molten rock pit is found in the mountains to the east of the city and is the center of a right of passage for all Dragonborn. As a sign of adulthood, each travels to the pit and wades into the pit without harm, their body absorbing its essence and activating their unique breath weapon.
