Old Ashton

Founded: 605 GM Population: ~5,000 Purpose: Leisure / Drug Creation Current Ruler: Oasis Foundation Technically the oldest settlement in Veritas, Old Ashton now serves as the premier northern trading port, warm retirement community, and home to the Golden Dragon Ale Brewery. While considered a city, there are only a handful of buildings around the central port; the others reside loosely around the Oasis or within the sandstone walls of the Hang Your Sandals Retirement Community.   The centerpiece of this settlement remains the mystical Oasis, a self-contained and replenishing water source whose creation is credited to the divine by the first settlers. The waters, aquatic flora, and fauna within contain unique magical properties desired by merchants and the elderly alike.   City Dynamics Winter’s Blessing. Harvesting the Oasis-grown Gint Weed, the Obsidian Brotherhood creates their trademark Winter’s Blessing Hallucinogen, influencing the perception of extreme heat or cold. A recent crusade against the drug has caused a ruckus within the tranquil community despite not being classified as illegal on Vertias.   Retirement at its best. While a primary port, only a small portion of the population is in the shipping and storage business. The elderly or wealthy make up the majority with a focus on leisurely life. Consequently, residents and hired guards do not take disturbances lightly. Those who can afford this community deserve peace and quiet after a long and prosperous life.   Significant Locations Protection Pillars. A lightening based enchantment from the Age of Amplifications. The pillars can be aimed at specific targets, their original design to ward off predators.   Golden Dragon Brewery. A product of the Dragon Monks, this ale is widely accepted as the Veritas national beverage, the method of the brew a mystery to all outsiders. All monks are required to spend five years perfecting their craft here, some of which never leave.
