Session 3 Report
General Summary
After returning to Stonehill Inn the adventurers Beefcake, Deafaren, and Wynn decided to pursue their lead on the Mines and stage a rescue for the knight Sildar Hallwinter. Guided by K'van the party avoided the traps laid on the trail to the Cragmaw Cavern.
Upon reaching the cavern the party sprang into action. K'van taunted the goblin guards into the open where they were quickly disposed of. Moving into the mouth of the cavern they were met by three wolves. Deafaren's speak with animals ability allowed them to communicate but while they could not convince the wolves to join the assault they did leave in peace after being freed of their bonds.
Three paths lay ahead, a treacherous climb to were K'van informed the party Sildar would be, a chute behind the wolves that could be climbed, and the path lining the stream. Prioritizing Sildar's rescue Deafaren and Wynn attempted the perilous climb. Unfortunately a rock slide sent Deafaren back down with a few new scrapes and bruises and Wynn found herself in the company of half a dozen goblins.
Adventuring Party Batboy K'van was next to climb. Upon reaching the top and stumbling he sent Wynn down before taunting his old roommated and retreating himself. With the goblins gathering around the crevice an opportunity to drench them in oil and set them aflame was not passed upon; but not before exacting their revenge on K'van putting him out of combat.
Moving quickly from there Beefcake climbed the shear walls with Wynn atop and cleared the nearby goblins while Deafaren lay in ambush below waiting for the goblin reenforcements with their bugbear chief Klarg before springing into action. K'van's brother K'rin proved only slightly more adept at combat as he fell a fellow goblin as the reinforcements crosed the bridge to engage Beefcake in combat.
But the combat would not end well for the goblins as the bridge was lit aflame sending the goblins to their watery grave and giving Klarg a significant TBI which was not assisted by a blow to his head by Deafaren's quarterstaff.
Meanwhile Wynn snuck into the goblin's communal living area and executed the remaining two goblin's guarding Sildar, bringing an end to the combat. K'van was patched up and is back in good goblin health.
