Travelers tongue
You crawl out of your small leafy home, stretching and yawning. You move quadrupedally, as it is more comfortable for you. The fact that you are over 200ft in the air might have frightened others, but to you it simply means you are home. Your prehensile tail instinctively grips the branch behind you, stabilizing you as you make your way to the guild hall. You are running out of money, so it is time to take another quest. You make it swiftly to the small building, hanging a few feet off a thick branch. You hop off your own branch, swinging into the building with your long, strong tail. The small, jumpy monkeyling within building is busy tacking a new quest onto the small corkboard on the wall. You speak loudly in a slightly unfamiliar tongue to you, travelers tongue. You know your accent is weird and you are probably mispronouncing half your words. "What quests do you have available and how much do they pay?" The thin ape looks up at you, startled, and responds in common, "Why do you want a quetzal?" He thinks for a second, before realizing something, and responding again in travelers tongue, "We have four right now. One for twenty-five gold, two for one-hundred, and another for two-hundred-fifty," he taps his chin with his thin fingers, "but that one might be to hard for you." You grin before stating frankly, "I'll take that one!"
It is somewhat typical to weave bits of this language into normal speech to identify other adventurers if it is not safe to just ask.
This language includes not only normal speech, but clicks, whistles, and grunts. It sounds very odd and foreign to many people. It is moderately harsh, but usually sounds quite a bit higher pitched than most languages. There are typically more consonants and sounds than vowels.
This language is learned by travelers, and is considered a secret language only for adventurers to learn. Typically, a guild will have dictionaries and learners guides for it, but you can only get one after completely finishing five quests. This usually denies most common people the knowledge of this language, but most experienced adventurers are moderately fluent in it.
