Magic

Magic in Lostend'a is possible only through the existence and use of one's Anima. Any spell is a either a reflection, a manipulation or a presentation of one's personal Anima.   Those who are Shard Decrept will have a much higher difficulty at trying to cast spells and utilize their Anima to the best of their abilities. A spell from one person may look entirely different from another person. The contents of ones Anima is a conglomeration of one's passions, one's loves, and one's hatreds among other smaller things.

Examples

  • If a druid who feels an undying love for nature was to cast Hellish Rebuke, it might present as a trees or vines erupting from his self
  • If a warlock's family was killed in a fire and thus held a deep hatred for fire and destruction, his Eldritch Blast might present as flames
  • If a sorcerer was to cast Darkness but he was really passionate about butterflies - spectral butterflies might fill the room - causing visibility to reduce to zero
These are just a few examples of spell manipulation through one's Anima. That said, spells do carry a default, so those who are rather neutral in position might just present the same spell.
