Tarangue

Tarangue are beasts who are blessed with the ability to transfer pieces of their Anima to the Inanimatum without actually losing any of their Anima.

Traits and Abilities of the Tarangue

  • Small beasts with insignificant Anima are able to be 'gifted' new Anima by the Tarangue, but more intelligent or energy consuming beasts must be used as fully utilized vessels for the Tarangue. For example, to use an elf's corpse as a vessel the Tarangue must leave the previous vessel and enter the new one. However to take over a bird, a Tarangue would just need to till it to life and it would live a subset consciousness of the Tarangue itself. This bird would in the complete control of the Tarangue whether it has a vessel or not.

  • Tarangue cannot kill any living being if they are not currently in their original body. If a Tarangue in an alternate vessel attempts to make a killing blow on another living creature, the blow will be warded through some unseen force. There is, however, a workaround for this annoyance that Tarangue face. If a Tarangue 'attunes' to a vessel they can mark it as their new original body. This attuneship is not a fast process, however, and requires some set aside time. To attune to a new vessel the Tarangue must sleep for months - even years of time depending on how large the pocket of Anima is.

  • The only way to kill a Tarangue is kill it while it is in its original vessel. If a Tarangue was killed in an alternative vessel then it would shift into its raw form of pure Anima and move elsewhere. However, once a vessel is killed it's pocket of Anima is no longer available to the Tarangue and is thus unusable as vessel any longer - so killing a vessel is useful in battle because it does temporarily hinder the Tarangue' s fighting ability.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Tarangue, when not in body, appear as a floating ball of Anima. The floating Anima is untouchable, and cannot interact with any living thing, however it can infect any dead or Inanimatum beings so as to create a vessel for physical travel. In this sense, Tarangue can appear as any mortal being. This includes beasts, humanoids, and monstrosities. In theory a Tarangue could even take over a dead deity.

Genetics and Reproduction

Tarangue are not able to create more Tarangue. If they reproduce inside of a vessel then they will just create offspring as if the vessel had reproduced: normal humans and animals without extra abilities.

Growth Rate & Stages

Tarangue have no growth cycle, they are immortal unless killed by another being. Since the vessels of Tarangue are not living, but are only being 'used', even the vessels are technically immortal. The basic life cycles of the vessel are reignited but the brain functions are still unused. The spirit of the Tarangue is the only thing allowing the vessel to function.

Additional Information

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Tarangue only carry the abilities of the vessels that they reside in. If they are without vessel then they cannot hear, touch, taste, smell or talk. Even their vision, when without a vessel, is rather impaired. This is why most Tarangue spend their time in mortal bodies rather than floating about the world without vessels.

Civilization and Culture

History

The Tarangue have existed since the beginning of time, some say, and thus nobody knows where they originally came from. Theories have been proposed by a multitude of collegiate researchers. The leading theory, which as understandably been accepted as fact, is the theory that a Deity of Power or created the Tarangue to create chaos in Lostend'a and interrupt the natural flow of things.   While the plan didn't backfire, it surely didn't work all too well. Most Tarangue live in seclusion without much need for chaos or power. This generalization does not come with outliers. There are a few problematic Tarangue that have existed over the years. The most prominent of these is the Tarangue who goes by the name of Rendle the Raven King. His presence in Crismalia has caused major problems to many provincial lords. His collection of significant items has also caused lots of official investigations to go awry.
