Chosen of the Spider

The shape, though vaguely humanoid with a head, two arms and legs, couldn't have remained standing by any natural means with such a thin body of blackened skin transluscent enough to show the milky bones beneath.

They'll eat anything. Rabbits, deer, human; insects if nothing else is available. Fish and birds rarely get caught by their webs and traps, but even dead and half-rotten they would be eaten just as well.

As ambush predators, they bite their victim to paralyze them before taking their time to consume their flesh. Though they can eat rotten food as well as fresh, they tend to keep their prey alive as long as possible to reduce wasted resources.

Once human, the worship of their Elder God led them to a life without light in the dark corners of the world, mutated into something completely different. Not all who worshipped the Spider became such monsters, but the influence of Elder Gods went both ways, and the strongest of their worshippers received the grandest of...gifts in turn.
