Sun's Height

When Juiwia, the Celestial Faith, first arrived to the city-states around the Shining Cove, their presence was merely tolerated by the majority. After the agalin epidemic of the Second Age, however, the situation changed and people began to flock to the temples to show their appreciation for who they saw as their saviors and healers. Old traditions of veneration were introduced to the city crowds, and among the largest and most colorful of these was Sun's Height.

A Day of Celebration

The morning of Sun's Height represents the dawn, Sun's birth and rise into the sky. In cities, streets are decorated with gold and fresh meadow flowers in full bloom. People from children to the elderly wear colorful wreaths and those who can afford it decorate themselves with golden jewelry and clothing dyed in bright shades of yellow, or the various blues, violets and reds of a dawning sun.

During the day, musicians gather in the streets to play songs and tell tales on one side, while the faithful leave their temples to give away bread and clean water for the poor and needy. In ghirinét - theaters in the city-states - performers retell stories of old in dramatic stage shows until dusk. People flock to the temples with gifts to place at the foot of the Sunshrine in exchange for a silent wish for the coming year.

The evening's breeze cools down the celebrations on the streets as most folk begin to return to their homes. In taverns and inns festivities continue often until the next dawn with dancing and laughter alike filling the night air. The temples light bright fires and set to burn the gifts given for wishes by the people to complete their sacrifice and ensure the fulfillment of the wish. They do not extinguish the fires afterward, but rather let them die out on its own throughout the night.
