Merius Minusacent Inyopokit
Merius is a courtier, translator, teacher and diplomat who, until recently, resided at the court of Prince Trofim Andreevich of Ladeisk. His mother was Iorsath Damma Mesba- a Galind trapper, and his father Darias Minusacent Inyopokit - an Irii merchant or diplomat, likely from Porphyry. The father brought Merius to Ladeisk at a young age, and succeeded in making him a servitor of the prince. He intended to stay at the court himself, but soon left for home, leaving Merius alone.
Given his capacity for languages, Merius soon became a councillor to the prince, and an instructor to his children. He is close to Arsenii Trofimovich (at least until the latest incident on the road), but his youngest charge, Princess Anna Trofimovna, is at best indifferent to him and his teaching. Merius also worked quite closely with major domo Zhadan Cheslavovich, who acted as his superior. It was Zhadan who recommended Marius as the main diplomat and translator for the expedition to Laima, to try to marry Arsenii off to the daughter of the Galind Grand Prince in exchange for a military alliance.
Merius is now a middle-aged man, rather short though quite portly, balding, with beady eyes. He is quite ambitious, trying to stand out from his fellows by displaying his competence at worldly learning. He is seeking to get a land grant in return for his services. Merius can get quite bristly if his advice is ignored or his name mispronounced, even if this means conflict with his superiors or betters.
