Munkh Khangarid

Munkh Khangarid had a fairly average Psoglav upbringing. Despite being raised to fight, hunt, and play in typical Psoglav fashion he found himself drawn to calmer arts like fishing and scrimshaw. From birth he longed to follow in the footsteps of his father, Ushkuinik Batu Khangarid. Batu was a respected ex-Storozh who passed on three years ago, leaving three children and a widow behind. He enjoyed regaling the family with tales of adventuring days past. The truth was stretched but inspired Munkh and filled his head with dreams of faraway lands. Not to mention that Munkh was a pup, Batu would sneak him along on short sailing trips. Even when he was too small to help Batu was sure to make him feel useful and capable, instilling confidence from an early age.
 As soon as Munkh could grip a spear Batu began teaching him the ways of the local Storozh, to fill his station when he inevitably passed. Munkh enjoyed their Lodge trips and watching the other warriors, rogues, and strangers do their work. The other Khangarid siblings, younger twin girls Tseren and Delbee, instead took after their homemaker mother, Purev. She preferred the stability of warm dirt beneath her feet and an unchanging roof over head. Purev prided herself on the upkeep of her home and raising of Batu’s children. Sadly she died a few months after his passing, seemingly of heartbreak. With his parents gone and his siblings safe in the care of their community, Munkh decided to leave home. Those he left behind were skeptical but made it known he was welcome to return - bearing edible gifts, of course.
Munkh set out on his own two years ago. Since then he’s spent most of his time traveling south, stopping at Lodges as needed, and enjoying the perimeters of human settlements. He’s made friends along the way, namely some Lovchii and Plut found deep in the forest. Munkh genuinely enjoys his nomadic lifestyle. He finds joy in exploring, brawling, scavenging, hunting, and helping strangers or settlements as needed. Humans often hide in fear or curse him but once they see he’s attempting to help they calm - typically. Despite the frequent hostility Munkh carries on, hoping to discover what calls him to wander, expand the Khangarid name, and be a sort of “ambassador” for Psoglav-kind.
