Slavomir

Slavomir was an older man who had come to rebuild Vladykino. He was found by the Serpent Slayers after they had exited the Cave of the Sleeping Bogatyrs the first time in response to Misha's summons - he had just come from there, and witnessed the carnage caused by Grey Wolf's volkodlaks, and pressed them to look for survivors, and for vengeance. Slavomir was the lone survivor, lying underneath a pile of mangled bodies, and begging them to let him die. He told them how the volkodlaks had come into the village soon after the party went into the caves, how they slaughtered the workers and inhabitants, and how their leader had sent Yuri a greeting. The Serpent Slayers decided not to follow the wolves, and took Slavomir, despite his protestations, back to the caves to finish their quest.   
The old man was deposited by the doomstone near the entrance. Although the companions tended to his wounds, they were incurable. When they asked him to follow them across the rope bridge over the Pit of Bones, he said he preferred to stay where he was. After the Serpent Slayers had defeated the viy, and revived two bogatyrs, they returned to that place to find that Slavomir had expired.
