Vasilii Strannik
Born Vassilios Galani, although that is a name he rarely remembers. He remembers a large home and nice warm clothes, maybe a dog? Memory fades at such a young age.
As a young boy of 7 his family was traveling across Nor'. Being a child he doesn't know why, only that the journey was long and his mother's parents would be at its end. They were attacked and taken, separated and sold into slavery, by Rurik Halfdansson and his people.
With no idea if his family was dead he was sold to a Noriki man, Radomir Konov, in the village of *Staraya Sloboda. He was used for 14 years, for chores and labor. Radomir and his wife grew to like the young Vasilii and taught him what they knew of carpentry and sheep herding.
During this time the weavers of Mokosh took an interest in the odd young boy and Radomir allowed them to teach him of the old gods and the ways of the Circle of Mokosh. Vasili took to the volkhv ways easily.
Radomir's wife died of illness and a year later Radomir died from an accident. As Radomir had no heir Vasili's freedom was eventually granted.
He was allowed to take his clothes and one item of no great worth. Vasili picked Radomir's old spear knowing the world is dangerous.
Now that he could freely travel, his volkhva mistress, Boiana, opted to send him to Bychii Brod to learn about a recent occurrence involving the volkhvy of Perun and some servitors of Rurik's. Namely, she wanted to know who started the conflict between the two sides, and who were Rurik's servants that had defeated the volkhvy of Perun.
