Yaropolk Khmel'nitskii
Yaropolk is a sotnik - a commander in charge of a hundred riders in the service of Prince Trofim Andreevich of Ladeisk. He Yuri Barolov's immediate superior, and has taken an intense dislike to the desiatnik - likely because he sees Yuri as a celebrity parvenue who did not earn his position. He was generally abusive of Yuri during maneuvers, and possibly had a hand in getting Yuri sent out of Ladeisk (though this is not clear).
He has not been seen by any of the Serpent Slayers since they left town to try to find a cure for Agapia's malady. For all anyone knows, he remains in Ladeisk.
