Severin Inquistors
North of the Heartlands lies the Kingdom of Nerimore. From within the government, a sect of individuals formed their own sort of police force after a manifestation of the moon, Elcren, came to them and granted them power to mete out justice. Now, they believe it is their responsibility to keep peace within the Severin Valley and beyond in the name of Elcren.
Structure
The organization structure is rather rigid, with a clear chain of command from Acolyte to Warden to Vanguard to High Inquisitor. Acolytes are newly anointed members, those who are still in training with no authority whatsoever within the Inquisitors. The Wardens are those who have progressed beyond training and are ready for the world and their job therein. Vanguards are the chosen few of the High Inquisitor who help lead and maintain order within the ranks. While some have more powers than others, some are simply put into the position as a form of nepotism. Finally, the High Inquisitor is the final authority of the organization. Those who challenge his or her authority usually meets an unfortunate end.
Public Agenda
The Severin Inquisitors state it is their duty to protect the Severin Valley from external and internal threats, as well as to help expand their influence to other parts of the world.
Assets
A castle in the Blackpeak Mountains with a dozen horses. An armory within the castle provides enough weaponry and armor to equip a village of guards.
History
Two hundred years ago, Lord Albrek Severin, a noble in the Kingdom of Nerimore, lived a relatively quiet life. He was given vassalage over the valley leading into the Heartlands from Nerimore, and with it came a castle in the Blackpeak Mountains that overlooked his subjects. The Severin Valley, as it came to be called, grew as towns sprouted up along the mountainside and at the base. Eventually, a vision came to him. An avatar of the moon herself, Elcren, visited him while he slept. She warned him of invaders threatening his rule, of barbarians wanted to lay waste to his valley. Only she could give him the power he needed to protect his people, and he accepted it. She granted him a gift of lycanthropy with a mandate to use it to protect his people. But he knew not the power that he had, knew not what he would do to those around him. And he passed on his gift to the soldiers that once stood guard over his castle. And with them all brought together with this unique gift -- or curse, as some have called it -- they formed the Severin Inquisitors and devote themselves to protecting the valley with their lives, knowing Elcren is behind them.
Through the generations, the gift has been passed on like a torch, each successive guard taking up the mantle and knowing it is their duty to protect the valley. Though the reason may have become lost or muddled, they carry out their burden unerringly. Those who bring trouble to the valley are quickly eliminated, whether by jailing or more... unsavory means.
Now, Elcren has come to the newest Severin, Lord Valmir, and informed him of his newest instructions: He must expand the influence of the valley to the rest of the kingdom and beyond. Only then can they truly be safe from the barbarian menace. He gladly accepted, and now their armies are being equipped for war. The rest of the Kingdom of Nerimore, unaware of what is happening, has been watching with silent apprehension as their army continues to grow. The Council of Hyperia is keeping a close eye on the situation, getting ready to react at a moment's notice, but by the time they know what is happening, it may be too late.
