Benevolent Virtues

The Time Clan espouses the "benevolent virtues" to be used by those with stewardship over others. Some of the virtues are contradictory and so the idea of balance the virtues are important.

• Justice Mortal laws must be enforced. The offender should be punished and the victim should be recompensed.
• Mercy Transgressors have potential for greater things. All have offended and been offended thus all have need of mercy.
• Cultivation Challenge stimulates growth. Match the striver to the challenge so the weak may become strong.
• Ministration Work for the welfare of custodies. Bless the lowly and lift drown trodden. Protect those who are weak.

The virtues of cultivation and ministration give rise to the principle of tutelage where higher ranked clanfolk will take youths or lower standing persons under their wings or in their tutelage. The benefactor will grant beneficiary specialized instruction, social connections as well as a guarantee of at least basic necessities.
