Dolthians

Dolthians are the residents of Dolth, The Giver's Holy City and are not to be confused with Dolthists, or those who follow Dolthism. They are said to be powerful mages and work to enforce the Giver's will for the sanctification of all flesh. Cultures that have traditionally followed Celestism generally have at least one story of Dolthian visitors ranging from individuals to entire armies.

Note worthy tales include an army of shining beings appearing and driving back the Orc horde that tried to take Mt. Vesting about 700 years ago led by one who is presumed. to be the Giver's Keeper of Earth. Melsons has a tale of a small group of "Holy Warriors" fighting back demons and sealing gulf to the plane of darkness in the south western section of the Reachlon Mountains. Watermen will tell the tale of figures walking on water during storms and even lifting ships up over rocks.

Ancient court records will sometimes make notes about Dolthain court visitors using terms such as "The Giver's household," "The Giver's stewards," and "angels."

Military Holy Orders will often pay tribute to Dolthians and include references to them in blessings, prayers and rituals.

Specific types of Dolthains include Yesbrid and Dulval.

Variations & Mutation

A variation seen most in cultures with roots in North central Lumena is that Dolthians are purified spirits of the dead given another form of flesh to serve The Giver and The Creator
Another common variation is that Dolthians are the great ones left over from the time of the Great Before. A less common one is that they are beings cast out from the higher plane of the Creator and bond to serve the Giver until such time they are allowed to return to the Creator.

In Literature

Most epics include either deliverance by or assistance from Dolthians.
