Funerary Rights for the Dreamers
Execution
The ritual is typically conducted in a quiet and peaceful setting, such as a garden or a shrine. The Dreamer will gather friends, family, a Priest of Amero, and a Dreamweaver to attend them. This collection is normally limited to six to ten people total. The ceremony begins with the sleep ritial to Oneiros. However, rather than the normal call to Dromnos and Lucian those present will ask Dromnos to create a safe dream and Lucian to bring the soul of the near departed to speak. Those present then engage in a period of silent meditation, during which they are encouraged to communicate with the soul of the departed through lucid dreaming or other dreamwork techniques. The Dreamweaver will aid in this if any are not able to lucid dream alone. While this dreaming occurs the Priest of Amero will tend to the space keeping inscence burning and ensuring that no noise disturbs those present. The Priest of Amero will also call upon Amero themself to ensure that the soul is safely delivered to the dream world.
After the period of meditation, those present share stories and memories of the deceased, focusing on the positive aspects of their life and the impact they had on others. This is followed by a ritualistic offering of flowers, candles, and incense, symbolizing the journey of the soul into the dream world. Flowers representing new life, candles the enligtenment of the dream world, and incense the meditation that allows those present to connect with dreams.
The ceremony concludes when all those present have no more stories and memories they wish to share. They then leave the setting, feeling a sense of peace and comfort knowing that the soul has transitioned to the dream world.
Participants
Dreamweaver - This is the priest of Oneiros. They are charged with aiding any non Dreamers or inexperienced Dreamers in performing the lucid dream. The Dreamweaver will also select the spot for the ceremony to take place.
Priest of Amero - This agent of Amero, the God of Death and Burial, is charged with offering silent prayers to Amero, aiding the Dreamweaver, and ensuring that none disrupt the ceremony. Dreamer funrals are some of the easier tasks of a Priest of Amero.
Observance
Upon the death of a Dreamer, or when a death that a Dreamer cares deeply about the funerary right will be preformed. Dreamers view death as a transition from the waking world to the dream world, a journey that the soul takes to become one with the dream realm. They believe that the soul continues to exist in the dream world, where it can be contacted through lucid dreaming and other forms of dreamwork. Therefore, the funerary ritual conducted by the followers of Oneiros is a celebration of the soul's journey into the dream world, rather than a mourning of the physical body's death.
