The Day the Gods Cried
Summary
There was once an orcish woman named Nada. Nada was a solder in the royal army. However, she was unlike her fellow solders. Nada, along with being a solder, used magic. Nada was feared on the battle field for her strength, cunning, and quick speed. While fighting with the neighboring kingdom Nada's commander would die so in her place Naha would become the commander. Nada kept rising higher and higher through the ranks until she became the Queen's chief general. Through this Nada would become very very wealthy, all the people who saw her could easily tell that all the gods loved her. All but one. Krimon the goddess of jealousy saw the way the people looked at Naha and wanted that. She sent some of her follower to spread foul rumors about Nada, but no one listened. Krimon sent followers to convince the Queen that Nada was a danger, the Queen dismissed them. Finally, Krimon sent an assassin to kill Nada in her sleep. As Nada lay sleeping in her bed she was awoken by the assassin. A fight ensued and Nada was stabbed with a blade. Nada used all her strength to throw the assassin out the window and yell for help. Tragically, as help finally arrived Nada was dead. The kingdom mourned and as they brought Nada's body to the place where all honored were burred three gods could be seen in the sky. Ados god of wealth, Sudon god of magic, and Krutia goddess of war. The three dragon gods sat in the sky and mourned with the people crying tears down onto Lumenos. As their tears hit they pooled together and started to form a lake on top of the old burial sights. This new teardrop lake was formed and the gods ordered the people to place Nada on a wooden raft and light it ablaze in the center of the lake. That this will be the new judge of a person's honor and favor with the gods, the longer the raft remains afloat while burning the more favor the gods have for them. Nada's raft stayed alight for four days and four nights before finally sinking to the bottom.
Historical Basis
Lake teardrop is the suspected location of this story. Adventurers and explorers have dived down to the bottom and found an old graveyard below the lake. Exactly when the lake formed, or why, is still unable to be confirmed. Since the formation of the lake though many cities have sent honored dead to be burned at the lake rather than in pyres at the city.
In Literature
There are countless stories, books, and fables about Nada. She is a popular figure for anti gender class movements and for the female requirement military. Children stories, novels, and holy scrips for the three lovers all have Nada as a prominent figure.
In Art
Paintings, stain glass, and other forms of art generally depict Nada in her funeral pyre on lake teardrop. Having the dragon gods above crying are common additions as well.
