The Heaven War's Last Battle
Lighting swirled around the blue dragon as the echoing sounds of hammer on metal bounced off the cavern walls. A massive anvil stood proudly before the Great Forge. Streams of magma stretching out on both sides as if to shield it from all danger. Despite the magma and the security of the cavern
IO never allowed herself to relax. She knew the sword she was tasked with creating would end the raging war. For over a decade the Deities had been locked in a bloody war. Gods had fallen and mortals rose to take their place. It all started when Mayim , Queen of the Hells and Condemner of Gods, attempted to take control of the Heavens. IO had been tasked by the Chief of the Pantheon and the God who she was sworn to serve, Vulcan the Flamed Protector, to create a sword strong enough to fight Mayim.
IO was simply a moral, a paladin of Vulcan just as his father was before him. IO was called upon at the start of Heaven’s War to defend the gates. This was the only battle that had been won so far. Close to two dozen other battels had been fought and every one of them Mayim and her usurpers claimed victory. Vulcan had given clear orders that no deity was to be killed by their side. This was not reciprocated by Mayim. She hunted and slaughtered the gods wherever they could be found. Finally, when all hope was almost lost, Vulcan gave IO the Forge Goddess’s hammer and told her to forge a sword that could kill Mayim.
Now IO stands within the Great Forge hammer in hand. As she strikes down on the golden hilt sparks fly. The sword, now finally complete, erupts in flames. She lifts the hilt, flames standing tall and forming a perfect longsword. The Sun Sword was complete. IO now raced out. She had to save whoever she could. The sounds of battle could be heard in the distance. IO saw the red leather wings of Vulcan outstretched as he flew above. Mayim, a giant with lightning coursing through her very being, could be seen wielding a war hammer. As she swung the hammer the air and sea obeyed her every command. The fight was almost lost as IO forced her way to Mayim. She brought the Sun Sword up and slashed Mayim’s hands. Then slashed again, striking her face. For a moment all was silent. Mayim fell to her knees. With rage filling her eyes she tried to rase the sea to her command. The sea sat still. The Queen of Hell had lost her command over air and sea. It now sat untamed and without command. In this moment of confusion, Vulcan forced Mayim and all those who aided her into the hells. The gods themselves withdrew into the heavens, locking the gates of both Heaven and Hell. IO was brought with the gods. For her work, she was rewarded with the sea. She would now and forevermore be the Goddess of the Sea and Commander of the Sun Sword.
