Description
The Raven Guard is the elite military and law enforcement force of Ravenspire, sworn to protect the city, its ruler, and its people. Clad in dark armor with raven motifs, they are both feared and respected by the citizens. Known for their discipline, combat skills, and unwavering loyalty, the Raven Guard serves as both the city's defense against external threats and its internal peacekeepers.Function & Responsibilities
- City Defense: The Raven Guard is responsible for protecting Ravenspire from external attacks, whether they come from land or sea. They man the city walls, guard the gates, and patrol the cliffs that surround the city.
- Law Enforcement: Within the city, they maintain order by enforcing the laws set forth by Lord Draven Blackthorn. The Raven Guard handles everything from petty thefts in the streets of Crow’s Perch to rooting out traitors or threats in Blackthorn Heights.
- Military Force: In times of war, the Raven Guard is the first line of defense, deploying to the battlefield to fight for Ravenspire and the kingdom of Silverhelm. They are highly trained in both offensive and defensive strategies and work closely with other military factions.
- Espionage & Intelligence: The Raven Guard has an extensive network of spies and informants throughout the city, particularly in places like Twilight Hollow and Crow’s Perch. They use this network to uncover plots, thwart criminal activities, and stay one step ahead of potential enemies.
- Ceremonial Duties: The Raven Guard also performs ceremonial duties, including guarding the Blackthorn Keep, escorting noble visitors, and representing Ravenspire in official ceremonies.
Activities
- Patrols and Guard Duty: Regular patrols throughout the districts, especially around Ravensreach and Duskwharf, ensure that law and order are upheld. The Raven Guard also watches the city walls and key locations like the Raven’s Gate.
- Maritime Security: The Guard works with naval forces to protect Duskwharf and ensure the safety of trade routes. They oversee the inspection of incoming ships and occasionally participate in naval patrols. Regular training sessions take place in Ironshadow Ward, where soldiers practice combat drills, archery, and tactics. New recruits undergo rigorous training before earning their place in the Guard.
- Investigations and Intelligence Gathering: In Crow’s Perch and Twilight Hollow, undercover agents of the Raven Guard monitor the activities of the criminal underworld, gathering intelligence and stopping illegal operations. They also maintain a close watch on potential political rivals or traitors.
- Public Order Operations: During festivals, market days, or political unrest, the Raven Guard is called upon to keep order and prevent riots or disturbances, particularly in the more volatile districts like Crow’s Perch and Ravensreach.
