After deducing that the unearthed dragon remains belonged to an ancient Amethyst Dragon, Professor Thorne urges the adventurers to investigate the Wyvern Mountains, since he remembers learning about an old dragon den which many ancient reports reference. He also mentions how countless expeditions have been made there and none have succeeded. (500 base gold, 1000 gold for each successful check, 2000 for each critical on these checks)

The Lodestone:
At the end of the cave they find an amethyst dragon egg and an amethyst lodestone which are gaurded by a
Spirit of the Amethyst Mother.
Scholarly Decision
Once the players turn in their research they get their gold (split) and 500xp (each).
Professor Thorne will observe the
amethyst lodestone and tell them what it does and it's potential use as a stabilizer for a spelljammer ship. He will ask for it and promise to begin research and work on making a ship for them. The Dragon egg can be cared for and will eventually hatch an
amethyst wyrmling they can tame.
