Death's Splitting of Mask and Cyric

Death eventually bore a son himself; Pantheros. Pantheros was slated to become a New or Modern Divine, as he would be fully formed and his own man after the reclusion of the Ancient Divines to the Stack. Death had other plans however and enacted one last stroke of vileness before being sealed.

After emerging from the darkness that Death begets (much to their horror,) Pantheros takes to settling into Lyiot and awaiting his ascension in 8 years. Death had different ideas for their only begotten son, and decides to commit one last atrocity before being sealed away for good by Anathaius and Hariq. Death goes to split his son, so that he may have two- cleaving Pantheros straight down the middle. A new birth of Cowardice and Mutilation, to be constant in the daily lives of mortals. Much to their chagrin, Death is thwarted in the process by Hariq as he notices what it is they are attempting to do. Before being sealed into the stack prematurely, Death meets with Cowardice in secret and bestows upon him a series of keys to give to the kingdom of the Meadowfolk. If they couldn't be there to witness the demise of all of the Olqdesh's work, they would exact their revenge through the Olqdesh's next of kin. Cowardice was to take these keys and mingle with Meadowfolk, and distribute them amongst them following his ascension. The keys are the terrible gift of mass destruction and could wipe out entire communities and living beings in the unknowing or wrong hands. Mutilation, who after he was created did the best he could with his situation, sneaked around and followed Death and his brother to their secret meeting. Hariq had spoken to him after he had been created and inspired light of hope within him. Overhearing their nefarious plan, Mutilation resolved to sunder his brother upon the sealing of Death and to scatter the keys to his own children to protect with their lives, so that they may never fall in the wrong hands.  --- Death screeching in frustration watching this happen during his sealing, and Cowardice screeching alongside him as Mutilation seals him in a souljar and then shatters it in the same breath. Cowardice became the shards of Cyric, after a human of the same name found one of the shards on his travels. Mutilation renames himself to Mask, after a woman he fell in love with and entrusted with keys to (of the same name,) died in his arms. Mask stalks through the shadows of the Kaen System, hoping to protect the mortals of Lyiot from the terrible gift of Cyric, hoping to avoid a shadow that sprang from him upon his parent's sealing, and hoping to protect those who are less fortunate across the planes.
