Magitek

Magitek is the general term for any device that uses magic to power it. It was officially invented in 89 AA by a group of mages working out of the M.I.A (Magical Institute for Advancement). 
There are two primary branches of magitek: oil based and elemental based. 
Oil based is for anything that is run by consuming magitek oil which is distilled from monsters.  Elemental based is for anything is powered by an elemental spirit of some kind. 
Both power sources offer different trade-offs. For example oil based devices require more routine maintenance but are far less volatile. They will also generally last longer if properly maintained. Finally, they generally offer a finer degree of control. On the other hand elementals can last a long time as a power source but it is much more violent so it can be less efficient. Elemental based devices are for when you either need a violent loosely controlled reaction or if you need something to run unattended that can be fully replaced when it wears out.
