Guruthos

Guruthos is the largest city-state on Ceven, and capital of the Taenost Federation. The city is naturally protected by a series of easily-policed bays that also made it a great trade post. The heart of Guruthos is built into a large crater surrounded by fjords and rivers. Downtown Guruthos is similar to human metropolises, tall skyscrapers connected by walkways between the buildings. The Taenost Federation's government was the result of a revolution in 2116, and had maintained its power through central economic control, propaganda schools, and harsh punishment of political dissenters. For decades small rebel parties and social unrest sparked and was quashed quickly, as most peoples basic needs were met, just barely. In 2165 a cold spell hit the Federation, water became very difficult to come by and there were massive crop failures following a genocide campaign against against landowners. The Silver Front led a revolt in Guruthos, and drug the city into a war against the state. After a rocket launch caught the attention of humanity, UCAS and HSEI forces came to the aid of the Silver Front. Guruthos was eventually liberated from the Socialist Party's rule, but the surrounding area remained under the regime's control, and the fight for freedom continues.

Demographics

The majority population are cullvan and malenvan, people of orange and yellow furs. Celebvan, silver of fur, and few others of other races mostly live in the nearby Arataen area, the noble mountain.

Government

The Federation is a one-party socialist state that prioritizes internal strengthening of its socialism, a totalitarian state, rapid industrialization, and collectivization of agriculture. The government is led by the Chairman, who is nominated by the Central Badhor of the Socialist Party of the Taenost Belt and elected by delegates at the first plenary session of a newly-elected Supreme Badhor of the Taenost Belt. Certain governments had more than 100 government ministers, serving as first deputy premiers, deputy premiers, government ministers, or heads of state committes; they were chosen by the chairman and confirmed by the Supreme Badhor. The government of the Taenost Belt exercised its executive powers in conformity with the constitution of the Taenost Belt and legislation enacted by the Supreme Badhor.

Infrastructure

The sewers of Guruthos are buried deep under snow to keep them insulated from freezing. There are many roads from before the installment of the Badhor party that are now left in disrepair. Public transport is now the main mode of transport within and between the cities of the Belt. Electricity comes from multiple fission reactors near the city that use the breakdown of plutonium, abundant on the planet, to drive steam turbines.
