Links are smartphone-like devices built into the lower sleeves of uniforms on spacefaring ships. Links have a flexible screen that wraps around the whole wrist, with the display tracking to the user’s face. Another standard in the duty uniform is an earpiece microphone connected to the link. They can be used for text messaging, phone calls, etc., anything a phone can do today. They also have sensor capabilities for temperature, gravity, atmospheric pressure and composition, and have scanners that can be waved over objects for simple medical diagnostics and chemical identification.
