Ordel

The ordel are a draconic species from the planet Fedaros, a temparate terra orbiting a red dwarf half the size of our sun. Ordel culture is best defined by its public duty doctrine; that every citizen has a duty to protect their fellow citizen from physical harm, even if it puts themselves at risk. The individual is unimportant; only the most exceptional individuals stand out throughout history. This idealism means that most ordel states developed strong economic safety nets and public utilities. These safety nets were designed to get the people they caught back on their feet and into the workforce again as soon as possible. Two years of compulsory military service sometime between the ages of 14-22 was required by most states throughout ordel history, including the current Ordel Federation.
Because of their dedication to military power and their own communities, ordel have the strongest military in the Conglomerate. This has caused multiple points of conflict with other Conglomerate members. Ordel proved their worth in 2058 when the Bakhta Coup started and attempted to take over the Conglomerate. The bakhta military was twice the size of the ordel military, but their ingenuity and tactics ensured ordel victory. Bakhta remained in the Senate after the coup, but were stripped of their right to keep a standing army and had prospective colonies taken from them. With the bakhta gone, the Conglomerate needed a new peacekeeping and defensive force. The ordel stepped into the role effortlessly and became the first species inducted into the Grand Council.
Throughout their history, multiple ordel races have believed in Kwachebl, the idea that ordel are a physical manifestation of an all-powerful spirit, created to spread that spirit's power to the stars. When they first joined the interstellar scene ordel aggressively colonized dozens of planets and built up their military power. By the time the Orion Arm Republic took notice the species had already created military installations all over the heart of their space. Ordel began taking over already established colonies, imprisoning, moving, or murdering the occupying peoples. This began the Second Orion War. The Federation supported similar ideas to Kwachebl in other species. Despite their military genius and might, ordel were unable to defeat the might of the Republic. Following the crumbling of the old Federation leadership, a new party took power and joined the interstellar community peacefully, helping create the SC Charter in 2033 and becoming a council member on the Conglomerate.

Ordel have endoskeleton with deep blue to purple leathery skin with black markings. Two arms and two legs each with 5 fingers. Two eyes with black scleras. Horns protrude from the head, starting at the nose and reaching up about a foot. Ordel are sensitive to UV light and see yellow colors as red. Ordel reproduce similarly to humans. Females create eggs inside themselves and males fertilize them. Gestation period is about 1 ordel year, 40 earth days. During this period, the mother requires much more food to continue functioning as normal. Most are unable to leave their homes while pregnant. Ordel grow quickly at first. At about 2 earth years they can walk, and 3 earth years they can speak fluently and their horns begin forming. Ordel go through puberty at 10 years typically, usually becoming fully grown at 14 earth years. From then, ordel barely age until they reach 80 earth years.
Through genetic engineering ordel have been able to interbreed with humans. Hybrids have dark gray skin, stumpy horns, and less dense muscle fibers than ordel.
