The Cabal

The Cabal is the highly authoritarian political establishment in control of Tjugo. The party has gone through great effort to hide the fact that they don't know the origin of the generation ship they live on. In 1738 an artificial intelligence was found with information about the species true origin. The Cabal, which was a group of government elites, ward chiefs, and land-owning lords, came together to suppress this information. The Cabal formed into one single element, and took complete control of the economy. They formed a force of elite lawbringers dedicated primarily to destroying any AI that would be discovered in the future. Lawbringers were also used to come down on anyone who would oppose the Cabal, by action, word, or even private thought. After decades of economic stagnation the Cabal gave up some control of the economy to those outside of their ranks in the 2140s.
