Magiyian

Magiyian are a friendly toad-like species that originates from Saliena. They are most known in the galaxy for being extremely good traders and barterers.

BASIC INFORMATION

ANATOMY

Magiyians have large stout bodies with muscular arms and legs. They have webbed fingers and toes. Their skin has a thin sheen of slime which keeps it moist.

Body Colouring and Marking

Magiyians have mottled bumpy skin that comes in ranges of green, browns, oranges or black. It is common for Magiyians to have a mix of at least two colours.

GENETICS AND REPRODUCTION

Magiyians reproduce with the female Magiyian laying her eggs into a pool of water, and the male Magiyian fertilizes them.
The successfully fertilized eggs then hatch into tadpole-like young after a month, slowly maturing into adults after 5 years. Female Magiyians will usually carry some of them around in containers until they fully grown.

DIETARY NEEDS AND HABITS

Magiyians are omnivores and eat most things. They have a reputation for being gluttons and are more adventurous with trying extra-terrestrial delicacies.

RELATIONSHIP IDEALS

Female Magiyians commonly look for males who are exceptionally good traders, having acquired an immense amount of worth.
As long as the male Magiyian has the money to allow the female to live comfortably with their offspring, the female will usually be content.
Due to the gender disparity of Magiyians, it is not unheard of female Magiyians having multiple partners though it can lead to issues like infighting between her partners.

Communication and Language

Magiyians communicate with a combination of croaking and low frequencies that are produced by specialised vocal sacs. An individual's vocal sac is unique to the individual, allowing them to be quickly identified by other members of their species.
The way they modulate their frequencies allows them to convey nuanced expressions that other species may find challenging to interpret. Magiyians have attempted to adapt to more vocal speech when communicating with other species, but they prefer not to.

They are part of the Galactic Union and commonly seen in trade hubs.

BARTERING AND TRADING

When enaging in trading negotiations, Magiyians will communicate extremely fast with each other to come to an agreement with a specific trade.
In contrast, Magiyians are extremely picky with their trades and will throughly examine the object in question beforehand to see if they can get a good deal out of it.
While Magiyians prefer trading to involve physical objects, they do occasionally partake in deals involving recieving assistance or getting jobs done.
