Delivering with QIC precision!
— Trasari Intergalactic Postal Service
QIC (Quantum Intergalactic Communication) is a system created by the Trasari to allow for long form communication between societies in the galaxy. It is commonly used by many intergalactic organisations including the Galactic Union, Galactic Security Institution and later on The Conservationists.

Origins

The Trasari had originally developed QIC as a way to improve their intergalactic delivery service, due to believing the communication systems at the time took too long and too many delays.

Access & Availability

Since the Trasari wanted to improve communications for their own needs, the information to create and use QIC technology was sent to most space-faring species to use, causing it to get adapted and become widespread very quickly. At times the Trasari would willingly construct the technology and teach others how to use it if meant it would benefit the postal service.   The use of QIC has been banned with use on species and planets that haven't reached interstellar travel, due to worries of disrupting their natural course of development.

Complexity

Despite QIC terminals being created specifically for ease of use, the technology itself is extremely complex and energy intensive.   The majority of QIC terminals are installed onto spacestations and siphon energy off stars, with a connection from the station to planet in question if needed. If installed onto a planet, the Trasari only recommend building one at most.

Social Impact

After increased use of QIC, communication became much smoother in a lot of areas of the galaxy even if the technology had it's limitations.   Intergalactic trade and market opportunites developed as well as diplomatic relations between species. However it also gave more unsavoury groups easier targets to find.
