The Hallowed Tree of Crestala

Long before man there was the age of gods. There were gods that wished to create life and others who deemed it foolish and beneath them. Long raged a war between these two ideals, but eventually the Seldarine gods prevailed and granted life to the material plane. There were some who this displeased and so to combat it they formed creatures and beasts spawned from the very elements themselves. These creatures were called dragons.   Eons passed as the war between gods, dragons, and life itself raged on. Eventually causing an eruption of cosmic power creating a vast range of planes of existence. This sealed many of the gods away in alternate planes blocking their immediate access to the material plane, although some dragons remained to rule unopposed. Then came man. A destined king felled a legendary red dragon which in turn granted him the blood of a dragon. Thus the kingdom of Crestala was formed. The dragon’s blood was passed down from generation to generation with each new king.   With the presence of dragons now scarce, Crestala has become a vibrant land revered for it’s varying terrains, rolling hills, and most notably one of the largest forests known to life. The Seldarine Woods. Within the forest resides ValaMinas, the legendary tree towering nearly 1,000 feet high. Crestala is lead by King Osiris and his empire. Osiris’s throne rules from the capital city, Elyse, and branches off to major cities of Mercia, Aberdeen, Jutvale, and Kuhlmgrut which are lead by appointed members of the King’s Hand.   Crestala has been blessed with many years of peace throughout it’s own land as also with it’s neighboring continent to the South, Wrulan. However, there have been rumors spreading up North that farther out regions have been experiencing unexplained occurrences of weather shifts, decaying plantlife, and disease. Osiris’s fears that this will soon spread to Crestala if it hasn’t already. Due to his paranoia the king has enlisted his top soldiers to scout the land to see what news they can find of this decay.   And so we begin our adventure in the town of Mirfield, a small farming town towards the Southern part of Crestala. There, a half elf has just checked into her room along with her traveling companion.
