Charau-ka

The fearsome Charau-ka are bipedal apes that are as at home in the branches as they are on the ground.
Charau-ka are famed climbers and are often recruited to lead expeditions up or down cliffs, ravines or mountains. They scout ahead and secure lines to ensure all survive the climb.
Charau-ka are omnivorous, gathering fruit from their arboreal homes and hunting game large and small. They don't treat dead intelligent species, including other charau-ka, differently to game and will consume defeated foes.
Their powerful arms make them deadly with thrown weapons from spears to any scrap of debris they can get their fingers on.
Charau-ka young start scouting and foraging for their tribe from age 3 and reach adulthood around 8 years old. While they can live up to 50 years, most charau-ka die in violence before this time.
