Dwarves

The stocky, hardy dwarves are known for their innate connection to stone and their stubborn dedication to crafting excellence.

Dwarves typically reach physical adulthood around the age of 25, though are typically not recognised as an adult until significantly older. A typical dwarf can live to around 350 years old.

Dwarven engineering is behind many of the great cities on Irralish. Dwarven clans still brag about having built sections of Thurid that remain sound in the ruins though it is impossible to prove any such claims.

Dwarven stubbornness and hardiness has allowed them to colonise the rugged mountains of the Irralashian alps and the Kazad range. Over centuries, mountain holds have been carved into the depths of the stone. These cities produce large quantities of stone, metals and tools but rarely produce sufficient food to support their populations.

Dwarves are among the least magically gifted races and it is quite common for a dwarven child to have no innate connection to the weave. Such dwarves are thus resistant to magical effects but struggle to learn the simple magics common in the other ancestries. Despite this, dwarven stubbornness has resulted in some of the most powerful studied mages, refusing to let their nature dictate their destiny.
