Kevalas

The kevalas are an isolationist society of samsarans and those that travel to study with these monastic peoples.

Living inside and around massive hollow trees, the kevalas dedicate most of their free time to deep meditation. They subsist on simple foods easily harvested around their homes, often brewing a bitter tea from the nettles and cones of their coniferous trees that surround them.

A favourite ritual of the kevalas is climbing to the top of the tallest tree in their village and meditating balanced on the thinnest and newest of growths.

Each kevalas village is obscured from the outside world with misguiding illusions, defensive wards, and secure fortifications that blend into the surrounding trees. Only with great patience and a strong mind can a visitor survive long enough to attract the attention of a sponsor who will welcome them into the settlement.
