Kitsune

Kitsune are fox-featured bipeds that have an innate ability to shapeshift to hide their true nature to better assimilate into their environment. This alternate form is either that of another bipedal ancestry or a fox. The fox form is less discrete in the world they now inhabit, lacking as it is in any real foxes.

It is very rare to find more than one kitsune family in a settlement. Young kitsune usually leave home to travel as soon as they're allowed to and rarely settle in the same place as their parents. Travelling kitsune typically avoid revealing their true form, finding it more convenient to stick to a more common appearance in new places.
