Kobolds

Kobolds were originally bred as a slave species to dragons millennia ago. Genetically engineered to be smaller, subservient versions of their master's bipedal form, kobolds retain some of the more powerful traits of dragons though these were usually suppressed in all but the most elevated slaves. Kobolds retain scales that reflect their lineage, black scaled kobolds were originally created by black dragons etc. This colouration served to distinguish friend from foe in lieu of standards during the kobold wars. They faithfully served their masters for thousands of years until their masters fell. Many kobolds were also lost during dragonfall.

The survivors were mostly concentrated on Fogahral where the Rake culture developed, integrating kobolds of all colours into a new society united by their historical oppression by dragons.

Kobolds are small, scaled bipeds with tails that can develop wings, horns and even breath weapons as they grow in power.
