Phuyen

The phuyen are a desert-dwelling culture of trox that borrow below the sand and rock, inhabiting terrain that their ancestors did millennia ago. Careful engineering is required to avoid collapse so phuyen engineers are rigorously trained before they are allowed to lead expansions of the tunnels and caverns.

The phuyen are at home among the other insectoid life of the desert and many keep scorpions as pets or guardians.

Phuyen are xenophobic and isolationist and prefer to have no contact with other groups but are inquisitive and deeply loyal to those who show them kindness. They prefer to live peaceful lives living off what they excavate in their burrows rather than establishing trade.
