The Golden Eon

The Golden Eon was a time of growth and prosperity for Men, from their humble beginnings as hunter-gatherers. After merely a few thousand years, Men began building settlements and farming. Over time, they rapidly progressed, and as time went on, they progressed faster. Great cities of pure gold were built in those days, and these ruled over vast empires, led by truly great Men. Great heroes arose and vanquished various evils in Girda not destroyed already by the Breaker.

In those days, the Eternal Spirit gave to Men the Source Power, the magic that allowed the Eternal Spirit itself to make and break as it saw fit. While only a tiny amount was actually given to Men, it still allowed them a great deal of power, and many became sorcerers and mages, becoming almost living gods to the people of Girda.

Alas, this golden age was not free of the evils that still plague our world, either. Stories of great plagues ravaging Girda are common, and even in those days, Men were driven by greed and a lust for power. Wars between nations and empires were all too common in that eon as well as our own, and as Men advanced through the ages, so too did the wars become deadlier. At first using weapons familiar to us, they began using lances that spit fire at enemies, causing deaths to be much faster and far more numerous. At last, they made spears that could be thrown across the world itself and wipe out entire cities. Only once were these weapons used, but they proved to be the breaking point of Man. So many millions were killed that the Breaker went mad from all of the dead he had to harvest and bring to the Hall of the Dead. And thus ended the Golden Eon, and began the Great Madness.
