Professor Anne Patel
Anne Patel was a magic-user and a lecturer at Oxford's Arcane College. She is best remembered for creating the Introduction to Magic textbook. Reviewers, lecturers and readers to this day call her work the best textbook of magic for this new era.

Anne was born in southern England in 1930 as Anne Blake. Her father was an officer in the British Army and her mother ran a small shop in their town. Being a magic-user guaranteed Anne free basic education and training in using magic. In 1952 she moved to London where she was working a part time job and studied at a university. There she met Jack Patel, her future husband. They got married in 1956 and lived together until Jack's death in 1992. Anne never remarried after that.
Anne died of old age in her apartment in Oxford in 2010.

Anne had several friends and colleagues at Oxford with whom she kept in close contact. Throughout the years through her hands went hundreds if not thousands of students. Some of them, especially the very good ones, became later her friends.
Family Ties
Anne was an only child. Her father died in Dunkirk in 1940 and her mother died of cancer in 1960. With Jack she had twins, a son and a daughter.
