Mermaids

Appearence Mermaids are a not-so-mythical species, living in the ocean with the lower halves on sea creatures. They are known for their beautiful singing and their typical colourful scales (the fish variety of mermaid) which shine like jewels. The different types of sea creature's lower half can depend on what job they may have Have different looks/tail features depending on what kind of animal half they have.   Diet All merfolk, despite being half aquatic creature eat all kinds of fish and crustation. Whether this be a large shark killed by the royal guard for a feast, a large group of sardines or the simple oysters, scallops, clams, mussels and scallops, as well as different kinds of seaweed, kelp etc.   Language Their language consists of clicks whistles, and bubbles. Deep sea merfolk use a series of flashes to communicate with their species or just can’t communicate in general.   Homeland/Kingdoms Note: Words translated into Finnish   Merfolk have 5 Main Kingdoms. The first and most populated is the Tyynenmeren kingdom (Pacific), ruled by the Kuu Jellyfish who have held the throne since the Tuhoisa war with their who bless their women with powers from either the Water or Moon Goddess.   Military All mermaids live in their respected areas and don't dwell with "Land issues", though they do step in when the ocean gets challenged for a new king to rule over. Weponary is typically used by soldiers and the male royalty use magic to use special weapons. The Women in military (If they choose too) use their magic, blessed from the royal family from either the Water or Moon Goddess.   Culture Mermaids art is in the form of dances and carving/sculpting Women learn underwater magic and serve under the Goddess Storm (The queens make deals with either Storm or Lunar and then learn their abilities. For the non-royalty, their magic is chosen for them by the queen The Tropical mermaids are peaceful and colourful (Hawaiian culture I think) Tropical mermaids embrace dancing more than others The aquatic creatures that the mermaids are based on the cultures they live around, eg. Australian Indigenous people with blue-ringed octopus (Southern region of Aus)
