Bubbleweave Material in Magmoia | World Anvil

Bubbleweave

Written by WDdevin

Bubbleweave originates from the land of Mynari in the northwest of Magmoia. It’s fibers made up of a combination of Civo spiderweb fibers and Seaforth Milkweed. It mainly used on sailor’s clothing who are on an Armada Admiral’s crew due to it being so expensive.   The Civo Spider, native to Mynari, are relatively small deep purple colored spiders who dwell within Seaforth Lake. They have tiny oval shaped “fins” on the end of each of their legs allowing them to swim and walk on the water’s surface. Their silk is able to stay intact on the surface of the water, on land, and underwater using their web as nets for various prey.   Seaforth Milkweed grows only on the edges of Seaforth Lake in Mynari. At full maturity, their maximum height reaches about two-and-a-half to three feet. Every two inches up the stem has a green oval-shaped leaf protruding off. During the Milkweed’s flowering stage a globular shaped flower grouping pops up at the top of the stem causing the flower to resemble a mace. The flower itself has five petals in a star shape and is a bright blue translucent color. All of the flowers in the globular grouping cause the top of the plant to look like a bubble due to the flower’s proximity to one another.   When the Civo silk and Seaforth Milkweed is combined into one fiber it gains it’s renounde properties of increased buoyancy. When the fiber is weaved into clothing it becomes Bubbleweave. Bubbleweave allows the wearer to float much easier in the water, but not so well that the wearer can’t swim underwater. Admiral’s value the material to give to their crew in case of the event of one of them going overboard. Since Bubbleweave’s invention the death count from man overboard drowning in Mynari has plummeted. Occasionally, Admiral’s will sell Bubbleweave clothing to other countries for a steep price, but it does not happen very often as it is laborious to find and make which keeps it in short supply.
