Zlanbeast

Zlanbeasts (also known as Imperial Zlanbeasts) are flying creatures that are bigger versions of the kraan. They are used by more important officials in the Darklands. The Imperial Zlanbeast is used by the Darklords and their lieutenants.

The body of a zlanbeast is equivalent in size to an elephant, making it capable of carrying 4-6 humanoid riders.

Anatomy

The zlanbeast has two wings, a broad shouldered back, and two leges.  Its head lies at the end of a long neck.

Dietary Needs and Habits

The zlanbeast is a carnivore, and left untended will go on long flights looking for food before settling in for long rest periods.

Behaviour

The zlanbeast is more reticent and lethargic than the kraan.  It will fight to defend itself, but rarely initiates combat unless commanded.

Zlanbeasts are used by the Darklords and their servants as mounts.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

The zlanbeast is used to navigating in dark caves, and has more sensitive vision.  It receives a +2 to visual perception checks only to offset darkness modifiers.

Body Tint, Colouring and Marking

Zlanbeast coloring tends to both lighter and darker shades of brown.
