Marlov Shalfey asks the Bug Hunters to recover a fallen star. They find that Ernesto Piyarz has also dispatched an agent to recover the star. The Bug Hunters seize the fallen asteroid and return it to Ernesto Piyarz . In doing so, they also find themselves drawn into a conflict to determine who will control the Tower of Wisdom .

Marlov Shalfey asks the Bug Hunters to recover a fallen star. They find that Ernesto Piyarz has also dispatched an agent to recover the star.

Slade , the agent of Ernesto Piyarz has a head start and recovers the remains of the asteroid. It is about the size of a softball, and he stays one step ahead of the Bug Hunters as he arrives in Hailey . The blacksmith of the town begins to smelt the stone, but it releases a gas that summons a number of giant burrowing insects.

The Bug Hunters arrive to deal with the insects, thus saving the town of Hailey and capturing Slade . They seize the fallen asteroid and return it to Ernesto Piyarz at the Tower of Wisdom .

As the Bug Hunters arrive, the order of martial monks lead by Gilbey suffer a schism. Those that follow Slade and Ernesto Piyarz attack and try to seize the stone. But, through a long pitched battle, the Wolf Pack end triumphantly.
