The Order of Queen Beatrix

The Order of Beatrix is an elite military order in Eniria, consisting of only the best soldiers in the army. It was created in 1346 by Queen Beatrix, as a personal guard to the queen. Since then, it has changed to a legendary military unit. By the beginning of The Nine Years War of 1420-1429 , the order numbered 40 men. They were all wiped out at the battle of Khyrinus, except Lord Edwin the Uncrowned who was captured. Throughout the war, several dozen unworthy soldiers joined the order, and the unit lost it’s legendary status. Nevertheless, a few worthy knights joined it as well, and carried out several important missions throughout the war. By the end of the war, the majority of the order had been wiped out, but a few did survive, and have done so up to this day.   Throughout King Poros of Eniria ‘s reign, the order gained significance again, as Poros sought to return it to its former statues. One could say it’s experiencing a renaissance. Famous members include Commander and Stratego Magnus Rex, Duke Raum, and even the traitor Lord Edwin, whom of course is no longer a Master, due to his treachery.
Recruitment
The knights of the order, are all men and women that have carried out incredible feats on the battlefield. To become a master of the order, you must defend a friend from an enemy, and perhaps even risk your own life to defend your ally. The masters make two thirds of the order

The commanders are officers (or knights with influence over the army’s actions) in the army that disobeyed their superior’s command, and did something else that in turn helped win the battle. It’s very difficult to get this rank. If you disobey your superior’s command, and it ends up being a tactical blunder, you’ll be hanged for treason (if you survive the battle, that is). Thus, not many officers got the guts to follow their intuition. Currently, a fifth of the order are Commanders.

The final rank, the Dukes, are men and women that carried out incredibly feats of heroism on the battlefield. Some masters feel that they deserve this rank, but it is all up to the king. Sometimes a king may decide, that the conditions under which you defended your friend, were so dire, that you deserve the rank of a Duke.

History

Since its foundation, the order has carried out many remarkable missions. They have often prevented wars from starting, and sometimes sabotaged camps, or murdered enemy commanders, although this mainly happened under King Frederic reign, when Hadrian Khudia had authority over the order. Since then, they’ve been far more honourable, but have still sometimes been sent to infiltrate rebel camps, and destroy the movements from the inside. Under King Baldwin , the order was split in two, with one part being the honourable order, and another being the spy organisation. The organisation slowly died out, and has not been brought back by either Queen Eleos or King Poros. Since then, the Order has not been required to do dishonourable things.
The Khudian Plot
When Poros returned to Eniria to climb his throne, Edwin Khudia attempted to carry out a coup to kill the new monarch, and take power for himself. What he didn’t expect, was the Order (currently consisting of a dozen men) to remain loyal to the man whose father disgraced their order. They easily destroyed the rebel group in the capital, without losing a single man. Since then, they have enjoyed a high position of power, and tons of respect from the people and the nobility, as well as the admiration of the pleb.

Manpower

The order currently numbers 74 living members, all across Eniria. In total the order has had 231 members since it’s creation, in 1346

They all own a bronze helmet with a line of red feathers in the center, along with a maroon cape, held together by a golden miniature crown. The rest of their armour is optional, but further equipment varies on what subtitle you have. The lowest ranked members, the Masters, are gifted with a Bronze brooch, in the form of a shield. The second highest rank, the commanders, are gifted with a silver sword-brooch, and the highest rank, the Lord, wields a golden crown-brooch, aswell as a Dark red tunic beneath their armour.
