Lansimi

Lansimi are a livestock animal in Druin Dria, appearing similar to a wool covered baboon with a long fluffy tail. Despite the similar appearance, Lansimi are not primates, and are more similar to the sheep they also resemble.

Anatomy

Dense lean muscle wraps around the skeletal system of the lansimi, which alongside their fluffy wool, leaves them utterly useless at swimming. Lansimi are capable of walking and maneuvering on their hind legs for short periods at a time, allowing them to use their hands to reach and grab things.

Young lansimi typically don't have very thick coats, and require parental assistance to survive if they are in a colder climate.

Lansimi usually shed their coats in the spring, leaving no need for their shepherds to shear them.

Social Structure

Lansimi typically follow a single leader, the one that is most capable of protecting the herd. Within the herd there is little distinction aside from the leader and the rest, with most content to just follow where they are led.

Domestication

Domestic Lansimi are all that remains, no trace has been found of their wild cousins, though they were documented as being far more territorial, and more skittish around people. The Domestic variety seem to accept their shepherds, not only as members of the herd, but as leaders. This may be due to the fact that it is often the largest male who takes the role of leader and guardian for the herd, and the average Drudrian is about twice the size of most lansimi.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

Lansimi wool is an interesting substance, normally acting almost identically to ordinary sheep wool, when heated sufficiently, it becomes nearly as hard as iron. Since it is significantly lighter than any metal, Drudrians use it for light armor to protect their troops. There is a special balm that when applied to Lansimi wool, will prevent it from hardening, or if it is already hardened, it ill temporarily soften it up again.

Lansimi are fairly intelligent, yet gullible. It is not hard to trick them, but they do learn pretty quickly.
