Pixie

Written by KikiTerminator

Pixies are supernaturally small Fey that rarely get over 1 and a half feet tall in adulthood, due to this they have many nicknames, such as the Wee Folk. Curious as cats and shy as deer, Pixies go where they please.
The Wee Folk? Never have you found a more flighty group of little tricksters... downright nasty at times... but if you can manage to befriend one of 'em, they'll be by your side till the bloody end.
Pixies like to spy on other creatures and can barely contain their excitement around them. The urge to introduce themselves and strike up a friendship is almost overwhelming; only a Pixies fear of being captured or attacked can convince them to stay in the shadows of the glades they call home. Those who wander through a Pixie's glade might never see the creatures, yet hear the occasional giggle, gasp, or sigh.   Pixie magic is based on light hearted pranks and laughter. This magic is part of the very being of the Pixie, and as such affects their relationships in profound ways. A friendship for a Pixie is often a magical connection. Between two Pixies, this is a mutual mingling of their innate magics, and it forms bonds that last for centuries. Pixies usually keep to themselves, but sometimes, a Pixie will bond with a mortal. In this case, a friendship is formed that goes beyond merely a mutual understanding or shared interests. Such a bound Pixie will often stick by that person's side until they pass of old age, and if the bond is strong enough, such a passing can cause a Pixie to pass shortly after - the magic of their life cut short in losing such a potent friendship forever.   Being essentially ageless, Pixie's crave diversions. Because of this they love nothing more than to play tricks and pull pranks on each other, and on those that pass through their glades. Usual pranks can range from pulling chairs out from under someone, to purposefully leading someone into a potentially dangerous situation. Pixies often don't consider this to be spiteful, instead they see it as playfully adding excitement to the lives of those around them, who otherwise would lead boring, monotonous lives.   In Pixie culture, an elaborate prank is considered a compliment, and it is considered bad form to become angered at such displays. However, this playfulness rarely translates well to other races, which can cause others to see Pixies as mean spirited and nasty little tricksters.

Additional Information

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Pixies resemble tiny elves, with reports placing them variously at 1.5 feet to as little as 1 foot (0.3 meters) in height. Pixies array themselves like princes and princesses of the Fey, wearing flowing gowns and doublets of silk that sparkle like moonlight on a pond. Some dress in acorns, leaves, bark, and the pelts of the woodland beasts. They take great pride in their regalia and beam with joy when they are complimented on their ensembles.   Perhaps the most notable feature of the Pixie is their gossamer wings, bright and clear as dawn and as luminous as the full moonrise. Pixie wings come in all shapes and sizes, from the classic butterfly, dragonfly, and moth wings, to the more rare bee, wasp, beetle, cricket, and grasshopper wings. Perhaps the most rare, and considered to be the most beautiful of all, are ice wings, often called glass wings for the glamorous rainbows that are reflected off of them.
