Frozen Wastes
Absent of any common animals and plant life found in tundra regions, the Frozen Wastes is a polar desert inhabiting only the most unnatural and hardy of creatures. They lurk this region either to prey upon scavengers/foragers picking the dead of they're treasures, or to mine the significant supply of precious metals that can be found around the wailing lake and in the Oblivion Peaks. Few survive the trek, and those that do tell stories of vicious beasts, supernatural figures, and unnatural things. Truly this place is only for the most foolhardy adventurers, but the rewards are there for the taking.
Geography
The Frozen Wastes comprise of a barren environment. The Frozen Wastes temperature changes frequently cross the freezing point of water. This "freeze-thaw" alternation forms patterned textures on the ground, as much as 5 m (16 ft) in diameter. Permanent flat layers of ice cover the majority of the region. A ever-frozen lake, called the Wailing Lake, halts the monotony of the miles of flat frozen desert leading all the way up to the Oblivion Peaks.
Fauna & Flora
This region cannot sustain life other than the most hardy and unnatural creatures such as white dragons, yeti's, Ice Maidens, Theullai, rime worms, and bheur hags.
The only plant-life known to reside are the frost-veil, a semi-sentient plant resembling a spider’s web dangling with delicate ice crystals.
Natural Resources
The Frozen Wastes is absent of most things valuable to humanoid society. However, the only thing that draws people to this place is the substantial supply of precious metals (gold, silver, copper, platinum) that can be found as you approach closer to the oblivion peaks as well as near the wailing lake. These metals are usually surrounded by the feral wildlife that are drawn to the steady flow of humanoids trying their luck.
